Fashion Inspo: The three dancewear trends we can't ignore

Trend Header.jpg

Dance and activewear trends are constantly evolving, which can be overwhelming when you're shopping for a new look for class or rehearsal. The beauty of the current dance and activewear scene is that function and style now work together, in garments that look and feel amazing even if you wear them all day long. With features like breathable Sports Mesh inserts and loose fabrics with the perfect drape, there's no need to sacrifice fashion for comfort, because you can easily have both. We've identified three key trends that can't be ignored - so if your dance wardrobe needs an update, read on for our top picks.

1. The Stirrup Legging

There's something extra flattering about a full length legging, and the stirrup legging maximises that so your leg line is even longer. Don't worry, the shiny stirrups of the eighties are long gone, replaced with luxurious, perfectly cut styles like the Piper Legging. With playful details like mesh panelling or printed inserts (see the graphic print options from Spot Me and Avatar here), you can express your style in any way you choose - and compression technology helps your muscles recover as you move.

Our favourite:

The Zara Legging is an instant classic in silky Black - but if you're not in adult sizes yet, check out the youth version (the Piper Legging) here in Black Sports Mesh.

2. The New-Look Leotard

Leotards don't always need to be traditional. There's a time and place for a classical camisole - and we love feeling elegant in class - but there's a new generation of sports luxe leotards just waiting to be added to your wardrobe. Think bold graphic prints (like the Star Leotard or the Sophie Leotard with printed sleeves) and clean, athletic shapes. The perfect modern leotard is too good to only wear to class, so pair it with jeans or track pants and runners, and you've got an ultra-comfortable all-day look.

Our favourite:

The Sophie Leotard from our Kaleidoscope Collection, with breathable black Sports Mesh sleeves.

3. The Loose-Fit Crop

Layering is in, and while you can't rock up to class in a heap of baggy clothes, a loose cropped singlet is the perfect way to add relaxed style to your look. The bonus is that throwover crop tops are perfect for street styling too, so whatever you choose can do double duty for comfy weekends. There's a huge range of options, like the Lola Crop from our recent Oasis and Paradise Collections which is available in everything from sheer Sports Mesh to colour blocked Modal. If you want to take your look even further, graphic prints are big news right now.

Our Favourite:

The Riley Crop from our Kaleidoscope Collection, which features the cutest placement slogan: Goals.

However you choose to style your looks, taking note of dancewear trends will help you stay ahead of the crowd. Because these garments are designed with dance in mind, they are extra durable, with fabric technology that supports all-day wear. The best part is they will integrate seamlessly with your street wardrobe, which makes your life easier (and more stylish!). For more dance styling inspiration, check out the Lookbooks for our most recent Collection releases:
